The essentials
Everything worth knowing about a receipt.
What is a receipt?
A receipt is proof that a payment has been made. While an invoice asks for payment, a receipt confirms it was received. Customers need receipts for expense claims, warranties, returns and tax deductions; businesses need them to keep accurate records of income.
A complete receipt includes your business name, a receipt number, the payment date, what was purchased, the amount paid including tax, and the payment method. Read more in invoice vs receipt: what’s the difference?
